Replacing Kawanda SS on their debut at the FEASSA Games, Hamdan Islamic was placed in the same group with last year’s netball winners, St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende.
After Kawanda SS failed to qualify for the East African games this year by stopping at the round of 16 in the Uganda National Championship, Hamdan Islamic managed to qualify for the first time.
At the draw held on August 7 at the USSSA Offices at Old Kampala, Hamdan Islamic was drawn in the same group with the East African champions.
Last year, Kitende defeated Kawanda SS in the final 46-44 after extra time to secure the win after both teams played to a 38-goal draw.
Both teams are in Group B, which includes other schools such as Oyugi Ogango Girls, Vwawawa of Tanzania, Kayatui of Kenya, and Bugogwa of Tanzania.
Meanwhile, Ugandan champions Buddo Secondary School met their Wakiso District counterparts, St Noa Girls Zana in the other group.
They are both in group A with other schools like St Joseph’s Girls Kitale, G.S Gahini, and Rutozo, all from other participating East African countries.
The tournament will be held between August 12 and 23 in Kakamega, Kenya.
