Uganda’s 3×3 national teams endured a tough day at the Africa Cup in Madagascar, with the Silverbacks bowing out after back to back defeats on Saturday.

The men opened with a 16–21 loss to Tunisia, despite a strong shift from Peter Obleng, who scored 9 points and kept Uganda in the contest.

That left the Silverbacks needing a win against Egypt to stay alive, but they fell 19–12, ending their run earlier than hoped.

While the men struggled, the Gazelles also faced a difficult start. They lost 20–16 to Tunisia in their opener, although Tracy Namugosa impressed with 12 points.

Their third game brought late drama as Uganda forced overtime against DR Congo, but they eventually lost 12–10.

The defeat left the Gazelles with little room for error heading into a crucial tie against Egypt which they eventually lost 21-14 on Saturday evening.

Both teams miss out on a place at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
