FIFA has opened applications for its 2026 World Cup volunteer programme, aiming to recruit a record 65,000 people to help deliver the largest tournament in the competition’s history.

The 2026 event will be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, featuring 48 teams and 16 cities over six weeks.

Volunteers will work in stadiums, training sites, airports, hotels, and other key venues, supporting operations in 23 areas.

“Volunteers are the heart and smile of FIFA tournaments,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

“They showcase their pride, create lifelong memories, and help welcome the world to North America.”

The FIFA Volunteer Community has over one million members worldwide, including students, retirees, and first-time helpers.

No experience is needed, but applicants must be at least 18, eligible to work in the host country, and speak English. Spanish is preferred in Mexico, and French is a plus in Canada.

One notable member is Craig Collins, the millionth to join the Volunteer Community, who first served at the 1994 World Cup. “I’m excited to apply for 2026 and show off my community again,” he said.

Volunteer tryouts start in October 2025, with training in March 2026. The World Cup kicks off on 11 June 2026 in Mexico City.
