In a lively celebration of global unity, FIFA staff have set a new Guinness World Record for the most nationalities represented in a single football match.
The symbolic game, played on Wednesday in Salé, Morocco, featured 69 FIFA employees from 69 countries, each taking the field for at least ten minutes.
Filled with smiles, constant substitutions, and shared joy, the match captured football’s power to connect people beyond borders.
“At the heart of it was our desire to celebrate diversity,” said Solomon Mudege, FIFA’s Head of Development Programs for Africa.
“We realized we could do something that truly reflected who we are.”
Around the referee’s table, passports from across continents lay side by side, a simple yet powerful picture of the world’s most inclusive sport in motion.
The event surpassed the previous record set in 2019 by UK-based Equal Playing Field and came as FIFA continues developing its new regional hub in Rabat ahead of the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.
“Football unites the entire world,” added Fatou Camara, a development manager from Mali.
“This game proved that, people from every corner of the globe came together on one field.”
