Uganda’s U17 Boys’ National Team, the Cubs, will take on West African powerhouses Senegal in the Round of 32 at the ongoing FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.

The young Cubs made history by advancing to the knockout stage for the first time after a stunning 1–0 win over France in their final Group K match. Forward James Bogere netted the decisive goal on Tuesday to seal Uganda’s memorable qualification.

It was a dramatic finish in the group, with all four teams, France, Canada, Uganda, and Chile  ending on four points. France topped the group on goal difference, while Uganda progressed as one of the best third-placed teams.

Senegal, meanwhile, have been Africa’s standout performers, finishing top of Group C with seven points, the only African team to win their group.

The much-anticipated Round of 32 clash between Uganda and Senegal will be played on November 15, with the winner set to face either Germany or Burkina Faso in the next round.
