FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers
- Zimbabwe 0-2 Uganda
Uganda U17 Women’s National Team, the Teen Cranes, put one foot into the next round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after a composed 2-0 win over Zimbabwe in the first leg played on Sunday at Ngoni Stadium in Harare.
Goals from Immaculate Acen and Lydia Namaseruka inside the opening half sealed a crucial away victory and gave Uganda control of the tie.
Uganda made their intent clear from the start and needed just 11 minutes to break through. Acen raced past the Zimbabwe defence and calmly finished past the goalkeeper to hand the Teen Cranes an early lead.
Four minutes later, Namaseruka doubled the advantage with a superb strike from outside the area, leaving the hosts stunned and Uganda in full control.
Zimbabwe pushed forward in response, but Uganda stayed compact and disciplined, closing spaces and managing the game well to protect their lead.
Despite improved pressure from the hosts after halftime, the Teen Cranes held firm defensively and saw out the match without conceding.
The 2-0 result gives Uganda a strong advantage heading into the return leg on 18th April 2026 at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba. The aggregate winner will face either Namibia or Kenya in the next qualifying round.
