Uganda’s U20 women’s team, the Queen Cranes, grabbed a firm advantage in their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers with a 3–0 first-leg win over Namibia on Friday at FUFA–Kadiba Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, Sylvia Kabene broke the deadlock two minutes after the restart when her low shot slipped through goalkeeper Sylvia Ndiweteko’s grasp.

Defender Barbane Anomo made it 2–0 in the 82nd minute with a close-range header, and substitute Mary Kantono sealed the victory in stoppage time, pouncing on a rebound.

Uganda heads to the return leg on Monday needing only to avoid a heavy defeat to reach the final qualifying round, where they will face either Zambia or Burundi for a spot at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
