The 2024–2025 FUFA Big League is set for a grandstand finish on Saturday, June 21, as five clubs go head-to-head for just three promotion spots to next season’s Uganda Premier League (UPL) while another five fight desperately to avoid relegation.

Promotion Battle: Five Chasing Three

At the top of the table, Calvary and Buhimba United Saints both lead with 49 points, needing just a point each to secure their UPL tickets.

However, they’re not safe yet with Gaddafi (47 pts), Blacks Power (46 pts), and Paidha Black Angels (46 pts) breathing down their necks.

The fixture list has done no favours, it’s fire across the board.

  • Calvary vs Paidha Black Angels
A West Nile derby in Yumbe where both sides have everything to play for. Calvary only needs a draw to seal promotion, while Paidha must win and hope other results go their way.
  • Kiyinda Boys vs Buhimba United Saints
Kiyinda will be playing for pride in Kiwenda, while Buhimba seeks at least a point to book their top-flight debut.
  • Blacks Power vs Busoga United
In Lira, Blacks Power must win and hope for slip-ups above. Busoga, on the other hand, is fighting to stay in the division.
  • Kataka vs Gaddafi
Gaddafi heads to Mbale knowing that three points could punch their return ticket to the UPL.

Relegation Fight: One game to save it all

While Booma is already confirmed relegated, five other clubs are locked in a tense battle to avoid joining them

  • MYDA (32 pts)
  • Kaaro Karungi (31 pts)
  • Kigezi Home Boyz (30 pts)
  • Busoga United (30 pts)
  • Arua Hill (29 pts)

Final day matchups could decide fates in dramatic fashion

  • Kigezi Home Boyz vs MYDA: A direct relegation shootout in Kabale.
  • Kaaro Karungi vs Ntugasaze:
A home fixture in Ntungamo, where Kaaro must win to stand a chance.
  • Arua Hill vs Booma
Arua must defeat already-relegated Booma in Masindi and pray that other results favour them.
  • Blacks Power vs Busoga United:
Busoga is in a must-win situation but they’re up against a promotion hopeful.

With Wakiso Giants, Soltilo Bright Stars and Mbale Heroes already relegated from the UPL, three of these Big League sides will take their places.

A new trophy awaits the champions on Saturday, capping off a campaign defined by unpredictability and resilience.
