The 2024/25 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League continued to showcase thrilling football action as Uganda Martyrs claimed a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Tooro Queens in Fort Portal on Saturday morning.
Auki Kigongo and captain Latifah Nakasi played pivotal roles, scoring the crucial goals that secured the win, which was a much needed bounce-back after Uganda Martyrs’ loss to Kampala Queens the previous weekend.
Right from the start, Uganda Martyrs dominated the match, showcasing their determination and skill.

Their relentless pressure paid off in the 40th minute when Auki Kigongo found the back of the net, giving her side the lead.
This first half goal proved to be a significant moment, as it gave Uganda Martyrs the momentum they needed to keep pushing for more.
In the second half, the visitors continued to press, and their efforts were rewarded once again.
Captain Latifah Nakasi, showed leadership and poise when she netted the second goal to seal the victory.
The goal not only confirmed the three points for Uganda Martyrs but also highlighted Nakasi’s crucial role in leading her team to victory on the road.
With this win, Uganda Martyrs now sit on 13 points after 13 games, just four points behind the top five in the standings.
This result is a positive sign for the team as they look to continue their climb up the table.
In contrast, Tooro Queens remain in the relegation zone with only 8 points, making their fight for survival even more difficult.
Uganda Martyrs, who will now look forward to their upcoming match against She Maroons on Saturday, 1st March 2025.
Tooro Queens, on the other hand, will aim to regroup before their away fixture against Makerere University WFC on the same day.
Other games on the day saw She Corporates draw one all away in Soroti with Olila High School with goals from Jesca Namanda for the hosts before returnee Grace Aluka secured the point.
For Leaders Kampala Queens, they extended their lead at the top with a 2-0 victory over Makerere University with goals from Captain Shamirah Nalugya five minutes past the half hour mark and Peace Muduwa, twenty three to the 90 mark.
Kampala Queens are now six points away from second placed Kawempe Muslim who are yet play matchday thirteen.
The defending Champions Kawempe Muslim host She Maroons in the Valley on Sunday morning, Rines SS will take a trip to Bukedea to face Amus College as Lady Doves welcome Wakiso Hill WFC in Masindi.
