In a bold move aimed at steadying a troubled ship, FUFA Big League side Onduparaka FC has appointed a five-member interim committee to guide the club through the remaining nine matches of the 2024/25 season.

Once a formidable force in Ugandan football, Onduparaka has endured a rough campaign this year, finding themselves in 11th place on the FUFA Big League table with just 22 points. The clubโ€™s fortunes have spiraled and with relegation fears looming, the management is now embracing a fresh community-driven approach in hopes of salvaging the season.

The decision to form the interim committee follows internal unrest and growing concern among stakeholders, particularly after a tense encounter against Ntugasaze on March 30 at the Greenlight Stadium. The game intended to rally spirits instead exposed deep-seated issues within the club’s structure and direction.

Recognizing the urgent need for transformation, key stakeholders including the board of directors and fansโ€™ leadership, convened in a series of crisis meetings. Out of those discussions, a new direction emerged, one rooted in collaboration and shared leadership.

โ€œIn the spirit of community ownership,โ€ the club stated, โ€œthe board resolved to adopt a multi-pronged approach that includes shared management of club affairs between internal teams and community representatives.โ€

Leading the newly appointed committee is Mr. Buti Ceaser Galdino who will be in charge of General Oversight and Operations. Known for his leadership acumen, Galdinoโ€™s role will be to coordinate the committeeโ€™s activities and ensure smooth execution of its mandate.

Supporting him are four other members, each bringing a unique skill set to the table:

  • Ms. Ayikoru Jeska โ€“ Secretary, Finance and Administration
  • Mr. Asiku Albine โ€“ Technical Affairs M
  • Mr. Dramadri Joseph โ€“ Resource Mobilizer
  • Ms. Amaniyo Sharon โ€“ Marketing and Publicity

Together, this team is expected to bridge the gap between the club’s internal management and its wide-ranging community base. Their mission is to inject stability, rejuvenate team morale and galvanize support as the club fights to stay afloat.

The committeeโ€™s immediate challenge is a daunting one: overseeing a tough final stretch that includes fixtures against Busoga United, Arua Hill, Booma, Blacks Power, Kataka, Kaaro Karungi, Kigezi HomeBoys, Kiyinda Boys and Calvary FC.
