Four Chiefdoms set pace for Busoga Kingdom cycling championship

The second edition of the Busoga Kingdom Cycling Championship started on Saturday with preliminary rounds in the Luuka and Bulamogi Chiefdoms.

Hundreds participated in the four cycling events, competing in two categories; Tippa and Mountain Sports Bike.

The top two finishers in each classification advanced to the grand finale. In the Tippa category in Luuka, Musitwa Andrew emerged victorious, followed by Mulondo Rashid.

In the Mountain Sports Bike race in Luuka, Magemeso Mensuramu and Kiwanuka Musirimu outpaced their competitors.

In Bulamogi Chiefdom, Kisambira Yazid and Naikamba Daniel qualified in the Tippa category, while Mukisa Amos and Baluwa Benard advanced in the Mountain Sports Bike event.

On Saturday, the second set of races in Bukooli and Bunhole-Bunhanumba Chiefdoms drew large crowds of spectators to the roadside.

In Bunhole-Bunhanumba Chiefdom, Damba Bashir and Waiswa Ivan finished first and second, respectively, in the Tippa category.

In the Mountain Sports Bike event, Lukakamwa Nelson claimed victory, followed by Masaba Ben, who outperformed Musa Panadol and Tegika Hassan.

The second preliminary race on Sunday took place in Bukooli Chiefdom, where Luganda Tifu and Malinzi Sam qualified in the Tippa category.

In the Mountain Sports Bikes, Mwondha Asumani and Bogere Tanansi secured their spots in the grand finale, which is scheduled for February 15, 2025, at the Kingdom level.
