SC Villa have signed former New York Red Bulls striker Frank Ssebufu, boosting their attack ahead of the new season.
The 23-year-old forward, a free agent since leaving the Red Bulls in December, signed a three-year deal with the Jogoos on Tuesday at Villa Park.
Ssebufu joined New York Red Bulls II in March 2023 from Wakiso Giants, where he had made a name for himself as one of Uganda’s brightest young forwards.
In the U.S., he played 55 games, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists. In the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season, he featured in 26 matches, scoring once and assisting four times.
When his contract expired, the Red Bulls chose not to extend it, making him available on the market. Kenyan side Gor Mahia were also interested, but SC Villa moved quickly to secure his signature.
“I’m excited to be here,” Ssebufu said at his unveiling. “SC Villa is a big club with great ambitions, and I want to help the team succeed.”
The Jogoos have already strengthened their squad this window with Ibrahim Kasinde, goalkeeper David Lukwago, and Geoffrey Gagganga as they prepare for a title challenge.
