The 2025 National 7s Series has unveiled a new generation of rugby talent, with several standout performers earning call-ups to the Rugby Cranes 7s squad set to represent Uganda at the Safari Sevens in Nairobi.
New additions Jeremiah Ojambo, Fat Moses Watmon, Ivan Bulima, Shakim Ssembusi, and Julius Oyuk impressed throughout the domestic season and now step onto the international stage.
For Ssembusi, it’s another milestone — after debuting for the Rugby Cranes 15s in 2023, he now joins the 7s setup.
Oyuk continues his rise from the U20 Barthes Cup to senior duty with Heathens Rugby Club.
Ojambo and Watmon, both known for their strength and agility, fit perfectly into Uganda’s evolving 7s style.
The spotlight, however, shines brightest on Ivan Bulima, the creative spark of Walukuba Barbarians and arguably the standout player of the 2025 National 7s Series.
His partnership with Gift Wokorach and Ssembusi, so effective at club level, will be key for Uganda in Nairobi.
Captain Karim Arinaitwe leads a balanced side blending youthful energy with experience.
Allan Olango and Roy Kizito bring leadership and composure as Uganda targets a strong run at the Safari Sevens, taking place Friday to Sunday at Nyayo Stadium.
