On the opening of the Futsal Super League, defending champions Mengo City started their title defense with a 10-1 victory over Entebbe Cheaters at the Old Kampala Arena on Friday evening.
In one of the six games played on Friday evening, October 24, youngster Farouk Tumwesigye carried the day by scoring four of the ten goals Mengo City scored.
In the game, Mengo City captain Anthony Male opened the score just 3 minutes into the game.
Throughout the game, Male finished with 2 goals, while other players like Joshua Aziku and Abdul Swabur Mugenyi, who joined the team, each scored one goal, while Arafat Kabanda and John Musasizi also joined the score sheet.
Another youngster, Ian Tugume, also started the season from where he left off last season, as he provided 3 assists on the eve of the 2025-2026 futsal season.
Entebbe Cheaters, meanwhile, scored one goal, with Muzaidi Awama scoring to make it 8-1.
In other matches, Kabowa Dream Team struggled to beat Edgars FC 4-3, QC Mbarara beat Kisenyi FC 3-1, Old Kampala FC beat Lamansia 4-0, Lubiri Falcons beat UG Kop 6-0, and Lubaga Grameen beat Nansana Aska 6-2.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the league’s organizing committee chairman, Abdul Kareem Lakhan, urged FUFA and other agencies to come forward to support the Futsal Association in Uganda and the league organizing committee so that they can continue to inspire young people in communities.
The league will continue next Friday 31 October 2025 with six more games at Old Kampala Futsal Arena.
