The National Basketball League finals will start later than planned after the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) approved Namuwongo Blazers’ request for a postponement.
The Blazers, back in the finals for a second straight season, asked for the shift as they prepare for their first-ever continental outing, the Road to BAL zonal qualifiers set for October 14–19 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The tournament marks their debut in the chase for a spot in the prestigious Basketball Africa League (BAL).
With FUBA’s nod, the finals between the Blazers and ten-time champions City Oilers will now tip off on Sunday, October 26.
“This adjustment gives the Blazers space to represent the country effectively at the continental level while ensuring the league finals maintain their competitive edge,” FUBA said in a statement.
The matchup sets up a repeat of last year’s final, where the Oilers used their experience to maintain dominance.
The delay is a chance for Blazersto chase continental glory and then reset for another crack at dethroning Uganda’s basketball giants.
