The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has extended team registration deadlines ahead of the 2026 National Basketball League (NBL) season, giving clubs more time after disruptions caused by the recent nationwide internet shutdown during the general elections.
Registration opened on December 30 and was due to close at midnight on January 20. However, the internet blackout made it difficult for several teams to complete and submit the required documents on time.
To ease the pressure, FUBA has pushed the deadline for NBL teams to January 24, while clubs in the lower divisions now have until February 10 to register.
The federation said the extension is meant to ensure fairness and allow full participation, especially for teams affected by the communication challenges.
FUBA also confirmed that the 2026 NBL season will still tip off as scheduled on February 6.
