The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is taking a major step to help Uganda Premier League (UPL) clubs become more financially stable. For years, most top-tier clubs have relied on institutions and individual sponsors, which has hindered the growth of Ugandan football and the league’s quality.
To combat this stagnation, the FUFA Executive Committee (EXCOM) has approved a significant annual funding package of 2.5 billion Ugandan Shillings for the Uganda Premier League over the next four years.
This substantial investment is a key part of the FUFA Competition Development Programme, a new initiative designed to improve both the sporting and economic aspects of the game.
FUFA officials are scheduled to meet with the Uganda Premier League Board and club representatives on Tuesday, August 26, to discuss the specific allocation of these funds.
This meeting follows the recent announcement of a new league format, which was approved during the FUFA Assembly in Hoima this past July.
