Newly promoted FUFA Big League side CATIDA FC has made it three draws in three matches, following a 0-0 result with Mbale Heroes at the NEC grounds in Bugolobi on Saturday.
This comes after a 2-2 opener with BrightStars FC and 1-1 against Kigezi Homeboys the previous matches.
The match, which started 30 minutes late from the communicated kickoff time, followed the visiting team’s arrival with just 6 minutes remaining to kickoff time.
Giving them time to warm up and test the bushy pitch, the game got extended to kickoff at 4:30, with both teams, CATIDA FC and Mbale Heroes, playing cautiously.
For the entire first half, CATIDA FC only had two shots from Wycliffe Lusedha and Jeremiah Jabila Rwotho, but all were easily collected by Mbale Heroes Goalkeeper Didi Muhammad.
On the other end, Mbale Heroes striker Akram Muzanyi was pocketed by CATIDA FC Captain Mike Kintu, limiting him to execute wise play from advanced midfield, keeping the game 0-0 at half time.
At the restart, Mbale Heroes started on the front foot, with Akram Muzanyi winning a corner straight from the restart kick, which produced nothing.
Five minutes into the second half, Host CATIDA FC scored from an offside position through Jabila. Cutting short the celebrations, Mbale Heroes tried to respond.
With CATIDA FC Defender Sharif Lubega and his Goalkeeper Denis Ssenyondwa committing a punishable error letting Assistant Coach Hamid Kibirango pissed off and warn his players to punch them, the visitors lacked sharpness to do any harm at the moment.
For the remaining thirty-plus minutes, both teams were just playing, with no vision or commitment. Even three substitutes for CATIDA FC and one for Mbale Heroes also added nothing serious to the game.
Ronald Kayondo and Faisal Ssenoga replaced Kevin Kyeyune and Wycliffe Lusedha in a double substitution. Denis Ola also replaced Aggrey Atandu for CATIDA FC while on the Mbale Heroes side, Ceazer Okello came on for Ivan Wako.
