The race for promotion and the battle against relegation in the 2024-2025 FUFA Big League are reaching fever pitch, with Matchday 24 providing drama, goals and crucial shifts at both ends of the table on Sunday, 11th May 2025.

Only seven goals were scored across six fixtures played at various venues, but each one carried significant weight in the season’s narrative.

In Lira City, Blacks Power FC strengthened their claim for a swift return to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League with a convincing 2-0 victory over Onduparaka FC.

The hero of the day was Baker Buyala, a midseason acquisition from CATDA, who netted a clinical second-half brace. His first goal came at the hour mark before sealing the win with 14 minutes left on the clock.

The win puts Blacks Power on 42 points from just 21 games, the least played among all teams, drawing level with Buhimba United Saints who were held to a goalless draw by Arua Hill in Gulu.

Meanwhile, Gaddafi FC bounced back to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Ntugasaze at Entebbe Works playground. Ahmed Amayo, a former Onduparaka and Vipers defender, scored the decisive goal in the 32nd minute.

Gaddafi now climbs to third place with 40 points, intensifying the chase for the two automatic promotion slots.

At the opposite end of the standings, Kataka FC made a powerful statement in their fight against relegation, thrashing Calvary FC 3-0 at Mbale Stadium.

Saul Bukoma opened the scoring in the 21st minute after capitalizing on a set-piece melee. Super-sub Ali Ssentamu who replaced the injured Isaac Balyejusa, scored twice in the second half, the first from the penalty spot in the 57th minute after Michael Olinga was fouled in the box and the second a well-struck volley in the 76th minute.

The win propelled Kataka from 10th to 7th place with 30 points in 23 games, giving them breathing space above the drop zone.
