FUFA Big League: Kigezi Homeboyz edge Ntungasaze to go top

In the Uganda second tier, as the promotion battle grows, leaders Kigezi Homeboyz saw themselves changing the top of the FUFA Big League table for a second time in successive outings.

In the game played at Kavumba Recreation Ground on Sunday, March 8, The Gorillas emerged away with a 1-0 victory over Ntungasaze FC, who led the table before the game.

Dominic Abonga found the target exactly at the hour mark with the only goal that sealed the win to see his side get to the top of the league table.

Kigezi Homeboyz is now leading with 32 points from 18 matches, a two-point difference, overtaking Blacks Power on 30 points and Ntungasaze FC.

Over the weekend, Blacks Power was held by Iganga United 0-0 as they continue their struggle to 4 games without winning.

In that period, they have lost and drawn twice, an ugly form that cost them by losing the league lead which they possessed for a while.

In other games, Kaaro Karungi powered 1-0 past Young Elephants, Kataka FC with the same scoreline defeated Onduparaka, while Bunyaruguru at home was held by Bright Stars.

On Saturday, Catda FC shocked Paidha Black Angle with a 2-1 defeat to slow down their promotion push, while the slaughter men are fighting against the drop to the third tier.

From Week 18, the FUFA Big League shall return to action on March 15 with 8 fixtures. Kigezi Homeboyz will host Bunyaruguru in the western derby, Blacks Power will be at home to Catda FC, and Ntungasazi will travel to Young Elephants.
