In the FUFA Big League, Kigezi Home Boys overcame an early five goal drama to beat Paidha Black Angels 3-2, as the westerners keep league leader Blacks Power within a reachable 3-point gap.
In the game played on Tuesday, December 23, at Al Madinah Stadium in Kabale, as the FUFA Big League takes an end of year 2025 break, all five goals came before halftime.
Timothy Bainomigisha opened the scoring with a tap-in from Karim Ndajizimana’s cross in the 10th minute to put the home team in the lead.
In the 11th minute, Bashumu Mugwa doubled the lead for the hosts by finishing Enock Tumwesigye’s through ball to make the game 2-0.
Eleven minutes later, Ismail Siraje pulled a goal back. Still, Tumwesigye reclaimed a two-goal gap after making it 3-1 with a penalty in the 33rd minute before Ismail Siraje completed his brace with a second consolation in the 40th minute of the game.
With the 3-2 win, Homeboyz reached 22 points from a possible 39, as they sit 3 points behind league leaders Blacks Power with two games remaining in the first round of the season.
Back on Sunday, 23 goals were scored in just five games, as Kiyinda Boys beat CATIDA FC 5-0 in the biggest win of the season so far.
Onduparaka defeated Mbale Heroes 5-2 in the highest-scoring game of the season, while Bunyaruguru picked up their third consecutive win, beating Wakiso Giants 2-0.
On the same day, Bright Stars won against Iganga United 4-2, and Young Elephants won over Kataka FC.
With most teams having played 13 games, four teams have played 12, while two teams have played 14 games, but they are ranked in the bottom half.
The league shall resume after New Year’s Eve on January 4 with 8 fixtures at different pitches, as Blacks Power hosts Kigezi Home Boyz in the top of the table clash.
