In the first half of the FUFA Big League game, goal poacher Gerald Ogweti scored the only goal for Bunyaruguru United to stun league leader Blacks Power, handing them their first loss of the season.
The game, played at Nyamambuka Play Ground in Kasese, saw the win over the powerhouse lend the Western Uganda-based side an escape from the relegation zone, as they reached 12 points in 9 games to sit 10th place, above the red line.
Despite the loss, Black Power kept the top spot in the league in the chase for top-flight promotion with 22 points from 11 games, as they sit on a six-point gap from second-placed Kigezi Homeboys.
In their chase, the Homeboys, also from Western Uganda, defeated Onduparaka FC 2-1 at Kigezi HomeBoyz Al-Madinah Stadium. Bashamu Mugwa scored first, and Enock Tumwesigye converted a second-half penalty, taking their point tally to 16 after 3 wins and 7 draws in 11 games.
In the same league, debutants CATIDA FC continued their unbeaten status with a 3-3 draw against Wakiso Giants at Coffee Grounds Bugoloobi.
Tervan Kyeyune scored a brace, playing a big role in helping the Butcher Men remain the only unbeaten side in the league with 3 wins and 6 draws from the 9 games they have played so far.
