Former top flight side Wakiso Giants returned to winning ways with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Kiyinda Boys on Sunday evening at Hamz Stadium in the FUFA Big League.

Davis Kakande Ssekitto made the difference, striking early in the second half in a match handled by referee Isaac Ochan.

The goal came against the run of play after Kiyinda Boys, coached by Emmy Kisakye, had made the brighter start and looked more dangerous in the opening minutes.

But after surviving that early pressure, Wakiso Giants struck soon after the restart and showed discipline to protect their slim lead until the final whistle.

It was only their fifth win of the 2025/26 campaign, lifting them to 19 points from 16 matches and into 10th place on the 16-team table.

For Kiyinda Boys, it was a painful eighth defeat of the season, leaving them on 18 points, level with Nebbi Central.

Elsewhere, the promotion race tightened. Leaders Blacks Power were stunned 1-0 away by Young Elephants Academy in Nwoya District.

The hosts capitalised on a 42nd minute own goal and defended resolutely to secure their seventh win of the season, climbing to seventh on 24 points.

Blacks Power remain top on 29 points, but the defeat, their third in 16 matches, allowed Ntugasaze to close the gap to just one point.

Ntugasaze cruised to a 4-1 home win over Nebbi Central at the Kira Road Police Arena, with Abdallah Kawanguzi, James Jarieko, Godfrey Kakooza and Brian Omirambe on target to move to 28 points.

Kigezi Home Boyz slipped to third after a 1-1 draw with Kaaro Karungi at Kyamate Playground in Ntungamo.

Allan Egaku had given the visitors the lead before a late equaliser ensured Kigezi settled for their eighth draw of the season. They now sit on 26 points, three behind the leaders.

At Mbale City Stadium, Kataka beat Bunyaruguru United 2-0, while Iganga United edged Onduparaka 2-1 at the Ssaza Grounds. Paidha Black Angels claimed a 1-0 home win over Mbale Heroes in Zombo.

On Saturday, Bright Stars defeated CATDA 1-0 at the Bugolobi Coffee Grounds, courtesy of an own goal by goalkeeper Ashiraf Sozzi.
