Kitara FC and Mbarara City FC made a return to the Uganda Premier League after victories of absolute dominion over Adjumani TC and Kaaro Karungi FC respectively.
Kitara dispatched Adjumani TC 3-0 on Thursday, thanks to goals from Paul Mucureezi, George Ssenkaaba, and Paddy Muhumuza.
On the other hand, Mbarara City in a similarly commanding fashion courtesy of a brace from star player Henry Kitegenyi and one from captain Jude Ssemugabi, beat Kaaro Karungi.
Kitara moved to 58 points, one above Mbarara, with the championship to be decided on the final day of the season.
Meanwhile, NEC needed to come from a goal down to beat Kyetume FC 2-1 at the Coffee Grounds, Bugolobi.
After falling to a Gideon Odongo own goal, the hosts rallied with strikes from substitute Tonny Kiberu and another from Farouk Ssesazi.
In third, NEC have 54 points, one ahead of fourth-placed Police FC with just a game to spare, as the battle for the final promotion place heats up.
Police edged Booma FC 1-0 thanks to Herman Wasswa‘s first-half header.
NEC travels to Kataka FC while Police will play host to Jinja North United in the final games.
