Laryea was introduced on Wednesday, October 8th, at a ceremony held at the FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, led by FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Whatson Suubi.

Speaking to the media, Laryea, who has experience from Ghana, Europe, and America, said, “It is a great opportunity that through football, we can change lives in Africa,

Football picked me from the street, and I try to pay it back by changing lives using it.”

He added “Speaking on Ugandan football, every time I see Uganda play, especially the U17, I see talented players with great abilities, I am sure Uganda is not far behind from African football powerhouses; we just have to do the right things to reach the top of African football.

And Concluded,” I am not going to do it alone, but every Ugandan working with FUFA, the community, and individuals has a big role to play.”

Laryea signed a two-year contract with Uganda which started immediately until 2027, and then FUFA will consider whether to extend another contract based on what is achieved.

Despite Laryea’s inclusion, Coach Brian Ssenyondo will remain in charge of the Uganda Cub until the U17 World Cup ends, giving Laryea enough time to further study how to adjust Ugandan youth football.
