The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Disciplinary Panel has summoned Wakiso Hill head coach Rogers Nkugwa following an incident of unsporting conduct during a recent FUFA Women Super League match.

The incident occurred during Match #67 between Makerere University WFC and Wakiso Hills WFC, which the home team won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Sharon Namatovu. In the official referee’s report, it was stated that:

“Rogers Nkugwa behaved unsportingly by aggressively approaching the referee’s team in a manner that suggested intent to cause harm. He was eventually restrained by fans, allowing the referees to proceed to the dressing room.”

FUFA Disciplinary Panel Cites Relevant Regulations

FUFA cites Article 39(3) of its regulations, which states that “All persons at a football match shall at all times act in the best interest of the game and shall not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute or use anyone, or a combination of, violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behavior. Any person in breach of this section shall be sanctioned in accordance with the Ethics and disciplinary code.”

According to FUFA Disciplinary Panel, above actions brought the game of football into disrepute.

The FUFA Disciplinary Panel has requested a written statement from Coach Nkugwa clarifying, contesting, or disputing the allegations and providing justification for why he should not be subject to disciplinary action according to FUFA regulations. The deadline for submitting this statement is Friday, April 19th, 2024, by 5:00 PM.

Should Coach Nkugwa fail to respond, the FUFA Disciplinary Panel will make a decision based on the information currently in their possession.

Wakiso Hill WFC currently finds itself in the relegation zone with only 12 points. Their next match is scheduled for this Sunday against She Maroons FC in the league.
