Uganda’s local football governing body FUFA has directed Uganda Premier League to hold funds of clubs whose Chief Executive Officers do not meet qualifications.

Every Club CEO in the StarTimes UPL was notified and required to hold a Football Administration and Management Course II certificate.

Sports Club Villa, Busoga United FC, Arua Hill SC, Gaddafi FC, UPDF FC, and Soltilo Bright Stars FC do not have CEOs that comply with Circular No. 1171.

“The deadline for this is 31st January 2024. No club will receive funds from UPL from the sale of the league rights without complying with this directive,” read part of the document.

The ten CEOs who graduated recently

Ten CEOs with the said credentials utilized the two FUFA-organised editions of the FAMACO Level II to be on the right side of the directive.

These are; Joseph Mutaka of BUL FC, Simon Njuba of Vipers SC, Anisha Muhoozi of KCCA FC, Ashiraf Miiro of Express FC, and Allan Munaaba of URA FC.

The list continues with Arnold Akankwasa of Mbarara City FC, Sula Kamoga of Wakiso Giants FC, Rodrick Muhumuza of Maroons FC, Joshua Atugonza of Kitara FC, and Jonathan Okorotum of NEC FC.

In addition, FUFA wants clubs to make the hired CEOs principal signatories to the respective club bank accounts that receive payments from UPL for value attached from the sale of league rights.
