The renowned traditional schools’ football competition, the FUFA TV Cup, returns with its third edition as St Mary’s College Kisubi and Ndejje Senior Secondary School prepare for the opening fixture.

Inaugural Champions SMACK will host Ndejje SSS in Kisubi on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

The launch of the third edition was held on July 9 at the FUFA Complex, where the organizing committee chairman, Dr. Apollo Ahimbisibwe, revealed the causes of the delays for the tournament, which usually opens in May for the two seasons of its existence.

“I want to thank the people who follow the FUFA TV Cup for their patience. We have delayed, but FUFA has been under different tasks including elections and CHAN preparations. This is the best time to introduce the third edition of the championship as we continue to promote both football and academic excellence.”

Despite the major attention being on CHAN, the FUFA TV Cup will proceed alongside the continental championship.

All 54 teams that were reduced from the 65 teams that participated in last year’s edition will receive 5 Zakayo balls, while the teams progressing from the first round to the last 32 will be rewarded with two sets of jerseys.

At the start of the championship, last season’s top ten schools, including defending champions Nabumali High School, were given a bye from the Round of 64.
