The new season of the FUFA Women Elite League will kick off on Saturday, October 21st with three matches.
After a 124-day hiatus, the season will commence with Olila HS WFC hosting Sacred Heart in Soroti, Tagy HS WFC visiting Goldstar, and Lango Queens hosting Ehcos WFC.
Last season, She Maroons FC won the league and Wakiso Hill Women FC finished second, both teams gaining promotion to the FUFA Women Super League.
While the 2021/22 FUFA Women Super League champions She Corporate FC and Olila HS Women FC were relegated to the FUFA Women Elite League.
In a departure from the previous season’s format where teams played on a home-and-away basis in one group, this season teams are divided into two groups and will play each other three times within their respective groups.
The teams were grouped into two groups, Elizabeth and Victoria, based on their geographical location.
Olila HS WFC vs Sacred Heart
After being relegated last season, Olila will begin their new life in the Elite League at home, where they hope to start with a victory and make a statement of intent for their top-flight promotion aspirations.
Olila will be without Bira Nadunga for the entire season due to a knee injury that requires surgery, while strikers Apiding Cecilia and Amoding Siporosa have left the club to join Super League side Lady Doves.
Speaking to the media, Olila HS WFC head coach Pande Sadam Cifu made it clear that their target is to secure top-flight promotion.
“Our target and first priority is to gain promotion and go back to the Super League, so we take every game as a must-win or sink game to make sure we achieve our dream,” said a committed Pande.
