The FUFA Women Super League returns this Saturday, October 21, with two intriguing fixtures on matchday two.
In the first match, two winless sides, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC and Rines SS WFC, will meet at St. Gerald’s Stadium in Lubaga at 10:00 AM.
Both teams lost their opening matches, and they will be desperate to get their first points on the board.
In the second match, wounded Wakiso Hill WFC will visit in-form She Maroons at the Luzira Prisons Ground, also at 10:00 AM.
Wakiso Hill lost their opening match to She Makerere FC, while She Maroons thrashed Asubo Ladies 5-0.
Uganda Martyrs vs. Rines SS WFC
Uganda Martyrs lost their opening match 2-1 to Kampala Queens FC, while Rines lost 3-2 to Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC.
This will be the fifth meeting between the two sides in the Super League, with Uganda Martyrs having won three times and lost once.
Last season, Uganda Martyrs defeated Rines 2-0 in Lubaga thanks to goals from Kevin Nakacwa and Brenda Munyana.
However, in the return leg, Rines narrowly edged Uganda Martyrs 1-0 with Eva Nagayi scoring the only goal.
Pressure will be on Uganda Martyrs head coach Rogers Nkugwa, who is at home and looking to register his first win of the campaign to keep the dream of lifting the league alive.
Rines will miss goalkeeper Bridget Nansamba and S.4 candidates, while Uganda Martyrs will have all their squad available for selection.
She Maroons vs. Wakiso Hill WFC
After thrashing Asubo Ladies 5-0 in the league opener, She Maroons will be seeking to continue their winning streak when they host pointless Wakiso Hill WFC on Saturday morning.
In the opening game, Wakiso Hill painfully lost 1-0 to She Makerere at home, and they will be hoping to register their first victory of the season against She Maroons.
Last season in the Elite League, Wakiso Hill edged She Maroons 1-0 in Luzira thanks to a Patricia Nayiga strike.
She Maroons striker Lillian Kasuubo is currently the league’s top scorer with three goals in one game, and she will be looking to add to her tally against Wakiso Hill.
Despite losing the opening game, Wakiso Hill assistant coach Umar Kasajjage believes that they can still win the title.
“We lost the first game, and that’s past,” he said. “We’re focused on winning games starting with today’s game against She Maroons.”
“Our opponents won the first game, and we won’t undermine them, but we must stick to the game plan and beat them to keep our dream of lifting the league title alive.”
