Eunice Nabwoba and Doreen Aujat delivered early blows to power Amus College WFC to a commanding 3-1 victory over Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women FC in the first leg of the FUFA Women’s Cup semifinal played on Wednesday at the St Gerald’s Playground in Lubaga.

Amus took control of the tie in the 13th minute when Nabwoba rose highest to nod in Shayline Opisa’s precise corner, giving the visitors an early edge.

Just before halftime, Aujat doubled the advantage with a composed finish after a dazzling solo run through the Uganda Martyrs backline.

Despite trailing, the hosts responded swiftly. Captain Latifah Nakasi gave Uganda Martyrs a lifeline with a simple tap-in two minutes before the break, sending the home fans into a hopeful halftime.

Uganda Martyrs came out fighting in the second half, piling pressure in search of an equalizer. However, a resolute defensive display by Amus frustrated the hosts’ efforts.

The visitors then delivered the final blow late in the game when Opisa capitalized on a loose ball, sliced through the defense and fired past Joan Namusisi to seal a two-goal cushion heading into the return leg.

With this vital away win, Amus College WFC carry a significant advantage into the second leg, set for this Sunday.

The aggregate winner will advance to the FUFA Women’s Cup final, slated for June 14 at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

In the other semifinal fixture, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC will host St Noa Girls on Thursday afternoon in what promises to be another mouth-watering encounter.
