The FUFA Women’s Cup competition resumes today, Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, with three matches at different knockout phases, across various venues.
Kampala Queens Face She Maroons in Round of 16 Clash
The pick of the day sees reigning league champions Kampala Queens FC lock horns with She Maroons FC at the MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, with kickoff set for 3 PM.
Kampala Queens cruised to the round of 16 with a convincing 4-0 win over Dynamic Jjeza, while She Maroons edged out Goldstar with a narrow 0-1 away victory.
The home side holds the upper hand in recent meetings, including a dominant 5-1 triumph over She Maroons at Lugogo in the league. However, She Maroons, last year’s finalists, are determined to replicate their impressive run in this edition.
Defending Champions Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Enter the Fray
Meanwhile, the 2023 champions, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women Football Club, begin their title defense with a round of 32 encounter against Entebbe Pride Women Football Club.
Their originally scheduled clash was postponed, but they are now set to battle for a coveted spot in the round of 16.
Queen Cranes stars Latifah Nakasi and Shamusa Najjuma, fresh off a bronze medal win at the All Africa Games in Ghana, will bolster Uganda Martyrs’ quest for glory.
Kawempe Muslim Aim for First FUFA Women’s Cup Title
The final match of the day sees Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC travel to face FUFA Women Elite League side Tagy H/S Women Football Club in another round of 32 clash.
After a heartbreaking semifinal exit last year, Kawempe is determined to capture their first-ever FUFA Women’s Cup title.
While they will continue to miss the services of forward Shakirah Nyinagahirwa, Coach Ayub Khalifah will have a full squad at his disposal, including the five players who represented Uganda at the All Africa Games.
