The 2023/2024 FUFA Women’s Cup final witnessed a dramatic penalty shootout conclusion after a tense goalless draw between She Corporate FC and Rines SS WFC at Standard High School Zzana-Ndejje Campus on Sunday.
The match between She Corporate FC and Rines SS WFC saw both sides fail to kill the game hence the fate of the two sides being placed in the gloves of the two goalkeepers.
She Corporate FC emerged victorious with a narrow 5-4 win on penalties, taking the trophy from previous winner Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC.
This penalty shootout drama mirrored the events of the previous weekend’s FUFA Women Elite League final, also hosted at the same venue. The match between The Sharks and Olila High School WFC ended in a similar goalless stalemate.
In that shootout, She Corporate missed one spot kick while Olila failed twice, at the same venue that hosted this Sunday’s final.
This meant that the 2021/22 top tier champions bounced back after just one year away in the second division, following their relegation in the 2022/23 season.
Finalists Olila High and Byafaayo Queens secured the second and third promotional slot respectively, to the FUFA Women’s Super League next season.
