FUFA Women Elite League side, She Maroons smartly beat Asubo Gafford 2-0 in the first leg of the semifinal in Luzira.

In the 11th minute, the referee awarded a penalty after a handball in the box and Babirye made no mistake from the spot.

A few minutes later, Asubo Gafford’s Kamiyat Naigaga dribbled past two defenders but her brilliant pass was wasted by Zaitun Namaganda.

In the second half, Lillian Kasubo almost doubled the hosts’ lead but her shot was superbly denied by the goalkeeper Olga Lukia.

One minute later, Asubo’s defense failed to clear a corner kick which found unmarked substitute Namwembe and fired home.

The visitors dominated matters in the last minutes of the game but failed to get a consolation goal.

Maroons will visit Asubo this Saturday at Kampala Quality grounds in their return leg which will determine who will play in the final.

In the other first leg of the semifinal, Uganda Martyrs beat Kawempe Muslim 1-0 thanks to Viola Namudu’s first-half header.
