With the sport of Futsal serving in its tenth year, prayers are much needed for the sport to get a smooth running into the second decade, as teams continue to struggle in attending matches.
Before the beginning of the 2025-2026 season, game giants Park FC dropped their participation along with other emerging forces like Kabuusu Clouds and Kisugu FC, a team which had stayed in the league for some good seasons.
Few games into the league, new entrant UG Kops stopped coming for matches, and yesterday the league faced another intimidating night as two games failed to take place.
The evening crossing into the night of Friday, December 5, was programmed for 5 fixtures, three for the Women’s Super League, a new project, while two games were for the major and usual project, the Men’s Futsal Super League, all scheduled to take action at Old Kampala Futsal Arena.
In a runway, the women’s movement games turned exciting with Edgars Youth Program exploding on Old Kampala FC with a 5-0 win, Lubiri Falcons won 1-0 over Kabowa Dream teams, and Kisenyi was held by Nansana Aska 1-1.
Shooting to men’s games, Lubaga Grameens were destined to face Entebbe Cheaters, another new league entrant, at 8:00 pm, and defending Champion Mengo City had to take on Lamansia FC, also a newcomer, at 9:00 pm.
Joining fellow new league comers, both Entebbe Cheaters and Lamansia FC failed to show up, granting their opponents a setting for an exciting friendly which ended 5-3 in favor of Mengo City.
Youngstar Farouk Tumwesigye bagged a hat trick with the help of Billy Nkata, while Sharif Opuuli and Abdul Kareem Tebera added the other goals. Bruno Ssegirinya was on the score sheet for Lubaga Grameen with a goal.
