Futsal Super League: Park FC survive Mengo City as second round kicks off

Park FC came from behind to hold Mengo City in the Futsal Super League second-round opener.

Michael Abura netted the equaliser in the game’s final minutes, helping the side from losing to Mengo City, who were dominant throughout the match played at Old Kampala Futsal Arena on Friday 24 January 2025.

Mengo City took an early lead through Samuel Omara and Sharif Opuuli’s goals that came in the 6th and 8th minutes of the play sending the Stomers to lead 2-0 at halftime.

Ten minutes into the second half Park FC pulled a goal back through Abura but Abdulkarim Tebela restored the two-goal. advantage capitalising on Park FC goalkeeper Brian Drilleba’s error just a minute after Abura’s first goal.

Four minutes later, Park FC pulled another goal via Opuuli’s slip off the defence to allow Joshua Aziku to make the matters 3-2 before the very late equaliser.

With the results, Park FC maintained their lead on top of the table standing with 4 points ahead of second-placed Mengo City as the teams are on 31 and 27 points respectively.

The game came last on the day’s menu which had 6 fixtures as usual. Kisugu FC earned the biggest win, picking a 5-0 over Crown Lubiri with the result keeping Nansana Aska who defeated Lubaga Grameen 5-1 and Kabowa who beat Edgar’s Youth Programme 4-3 in 3rd and 4th positions on table.

Kisenyi FC had a fantastic day as they stopped the 5-game winless streak after beating Mbarara QC 4-1 while Kabuusu Clouds defeated Busunju Spaks 3-1.

After the completion of the first half of the season and the opening outing of the season’s second half, the league going to take a break until 28 February to enable the Futsal Association of Uganda to switch to Under 17 and Uganda Cup.
