On Friday, April 18, at Old Kampala Futsal Arena, Mengo City top scorer AbdulKarim Tebera bagged a hat-trick to guide his side to clear the high hurdle of Kabowa Dream Team with a 5-3 win.
For the fourth consecutive game, Tebera opened the score for the league leader, Mengo City, just two minutes into the game but Kabowa rose to lead 3-1 inside the opening stanza.
Victor Kazibwe equalised and Carlos Kaddu added two goals but Samuel Omara, who returned to the lineup after missing the last game, pulled a goal back before Tebera equalised and completed his hat-trick, putting Mengo City in a 4-3 lead.
The hat trick helped Tebera take his tally to 19 goals, which is 5 goals ahead of any other Mengo City player on the scoring chart.
Returning to the second half, Mengo City continued to take control of the game by possessing the entire half, which had only a goal scored by Farouk Tumwesigye on his return after missing the last 6 games of the team.
The win kept Mengo City on top of the league with 48 points after 19 games, sitting one point ahead of second-placed Park FC.
Park FC, without a kick, picked up maximum points after Busunju Spaks continued failing to show up on game day.
In the evening which had five games in action, Kisenyi FC’s usual scorer ILyas Omran scored 6 times while reaching 35 goals as the league’s top scorer.
The performance played a central role in seeing Kisenyi FC take control in the Somali affair game which they won 9-2 over Crown Lubiri.
In other games, QC Mbarara dominated Nansana Aska with a stunning 7-3 win, Kisugu FC won 4-2 over Edgar’s Youth Programme, and Kabusu Clouds overcame Lubaga Grameen by 5-2.
