  • Edgar’s 5-2 Lubaga Grameen
  • Kabowa Dream Team 4-3 Lubiri Falcons.

In the game of indoor football, the Uganda Cup commenced on Friday, February 6, at Old Kampala Arena with three competitive fixtures of both Women’s and Men’s Cups.

In the Men’s Cup, Edgar’s, through Isaac Apenyo, who had a second-half hat trick, helped the side to a fabulous comeback from a goal down to overcome Lubaga Grameen 5-2.

Niwamanya Junior scored both goals for Grameen in either half, as they led 1-0 at halftime. After Apenyo turned the game for Edgar’s to lead 2-1, Feni Alfred Garanga made it 3-1.

A few minutes later, Niwamanya got his second goal for Grameen, but again Apenyo rose to regain a two-goal advantage before Brian Olwa, who had the fewest minutes, sealed the game for Edgar’s to reach the men’s Quarterfinals, which will be played on dates to be confirmed.

In another game of the Men’s Cup, Kabowa Dream Team also fought to win the most dramatic game of the evening 4-3. Sulaiman Mutyaba took Lubiri Falcons into the lead, but Victor Kazibwe reacted to the cause, with Carlos Kaddu bossing around the court.

At the end, Kabowa won the game to advance to the quarterfinals stage after beating the resilience led by Kintu Mansoor, making the game 3-3, canceling Kaddu and Alex Kizito’s goals, but Kazibwe came back and finished the job with a late penalty.

In the Women’s Cup, Lubiri Falcons, like their brother club, were kept short against the game’s powerhouse, Mengo City, in the game which was the first game of the evening, which ended 3-1.
