The FUFA Women Super League returns this Saturday after a break of over a month due to U20 National team engagements in the recently concluded All Africa Games, in Ghana.
Defending champions Kampala Queens FC are on the road against UCU Lady Cardinals in Mukono on Saturday morning, kickoff at 10:00 AM. The Queens of Soccer have a chance to go on top of the table if they overcome their opponents.
In their last meeting, Kampala Queens narrowly defeated UCU Lady Cardinals 1-0 thanks to captain Zainah Namuleme’s volley.
UCU Lady Cardinals dropped points in their previous two games, suffering a 3-1 loss to She Maroons before sharing spoils with She Makerere in a goalless draw in their last league game.
Kampala Queens Coach Confident
Speaking to the media, Kampala Queens head coach Charles Ayiekoh was optimistic to overcome the opponents.
”We have a chance to go on top of the table and we are ready to utilize it. Our goal is only winning the league and the only way to achieve it is to win games,” said Ayiekoh.
The tactician also commented on midfielder Teddy Najjuma’s performance who scored the winning goal against She Maroons to secure a quarter-final spot in the FUFA Women’s Cup, on Tuesday this week.
”I think Najjuma is ready to give her best against her former club, she showed a winning character in the last game and I believe she will give 100% of her best on Saturday,” commented Ayiekoh.
A victory for Kampala Queens, will take them on top of the table with 26 points, 2 points ahead of current leaders Kawempe Muslim.
For the hosts, a win will help them go to fourth position with same points (16) as She Maroons, who are third.
