Asubo Ladies defied the odds with a gutsy 2-2 draw against defending champions Kampala Queens in a thrilling encounter at Kampala Quality Grounds on Sunday.

Few gave Asubo a chance before kickoff, with many expecting the champions to win comfortably.

Kampala Queens started strongly, dominating possession and creating early chances. Their pressure finally told in the 42nd minute when Kamiyat Nayaiga tapped in a Namusoke cross to give them a 1-0 halftime lead.

After the break, the hosts grew in confidence and began to push back. Their persistence paid off in the 71st minute when Bitta Faiza pounced on a goalkeeping blunder by Kaidu Sharon to level the score, sparking wild celebrations from the home fans.

The champions regained the lead in the 83rd minute through an unfortunate own goal by defender Zaina Namboozo, who deflected a set piece into her own net.

But Namboozo quickly made amends, confidently converting a late penalty after Babirye was fouled to rescue a deserved point for Asubo.

The result keeps Kampala Queens third on eight points, while Asubo remain in the relegation zone but earned admiration for their resilience and fighting spirit.

Elsewhere, She Corporate moved to the top of the table after a 2-0 win over Amus College in Njeru, thanks to goals from Jesica Namanda and Nakato Rebecca, while She Maroons and Lady Doves shared the spoils in a goalless draw at Luzira Grounds.
