Table leaders of FUFA Women Super League, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, have dropped vital points after a 1-all draw with She Makerere on Saturday morning in a matchday 13 encounter.

This marks the second time this season that both teams have shared the points, following a 2-2 draw in the first leg.

The match, played at Makerere’s pitch affected by bad weather, saw both sides battle for dominance.

Sharon Namatovu opened the scoring for the home team in the second half, with a well-placed finish after receiving a brilliant pass from Hasifah Namboozo.

This was Namatovu’s sixth goal of the season, putting her just one goal behind the league’s joint top scorers, Agnes Nabukenya and Jackline Adong.

However, Kawempe Muslim responded quickly. Hadijah Nandago netted a beautiful equalizer just minutes after conceding, salvaging a crucial point for the visitors.

Although Kawempe managed to come from behind, their coaches reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with referee John Semakula‘s calls throughout the match.

Kawempe Holds Onto Top Spot

Despite the draw, Kawempe Muslim remains at the top of the table with 28 points. Their closest rivals, Kampala Queens, sit four points behind with a game in hand against Rines SS WFC.

In the next game, Kawempe will visit Lady Doves on Wednesday 10th April 2024 while She Makerere will host Wakiso Hill WFC on Saturday 13th April 2024.
