Kawempe Muslim and She Corporate delivered important wins in a lively round of the FUFA Women Super League, with late drama and resilience defining the day.
Kawempe Muslim left it late to beat Amus WFC 2-1 in Bukedea, thanks to a decisive brace from Jovia Nakagolo.
The league leaders had fallen behind early after Doreen Aujat’s fine individual goal gave the hosts the advantage.
Despite controlling much of the first half, Kawempe could not find a breakthrough before the break.
Their pressure continued after halftime, but chances remained limited until the closing minutes.
The game turned in the final moments when Amus goalkeeper Elizabeth Atieno fumbled a cross, allowing Nakagolo to equalise.
Minutes later, she headed home the winner to complete a comeback that stretched Kawempe’s lead at the top to 39 points.
The match, however, ended in chaos, with reports of a match official being attacked as tempers flared among home fans.
In Njeru, She Corporate secured a 2-1 win over Makerere University WFC. Jesca Namanda and Sarah Kisakye scored for the hosts, while Noeline Namiiro pulled one back for Makerere.
Kampala Queens also returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Uganda Martyrs Lubaga on a soggy pitch.
Peace Muduwa opened the scoring before substitute Joanitah Ainembabazi sealed the result with a well-taken lob.
Kampala Queens remain third with 31 points, while Uganda Martyrs stay fourth on 22 as the title race continues to take shape.
