FWSL: Namanda hat trick stuns Kampala Queens as Kawempe stays flawless

Jesca Namanda lit up the Phillip Omondi Stadium on Sunday, striking a memorable hat trick to lift She Corporate to a 3–2 win over Kampala Queens in the FUFA Women Super League.

Coach Belyse Ininahazwe made only one tweak to her team, starting midfielder Lukiya Namubiru and she nearly made an instant impact. 

Her 23rd minute free kick forced a shaky save from goalkeeper Gloria Namakula, setting the tone for an intense battle.

The first half ended without goals, but the second half burst into life.

Namanda opened the scoring with a brilliant finish shortly after the restart and doubled the lead five minutes later from the spot.

Kampala Queens pulled one back through Marion Amangat’s 70th minute header, but Namanda restored the cushion almost immediately, completing her hat trick in the 72nd minute.

Catherine Nagadya cut the deficit again with 13 minutes left, but She Corporate held on. The win sends them to second place on 20 points, with Kampala Queens slipping to third on 17.

At Wankulukuku, Uganda Martyrs and St Noa Girls-Zana played out a cagey 0–0 draw. Angel Auki Kigongo stood out and was named Player of the Match for her midfield control.

Meanwhile in Kitende, Kawempe Muslim continued their perfect season with a 3–0 win over Asubo Ladies on Saturday, stretching their unbeaten run to nine games.

Agnes Nabukenya struck in the second minute but later missed a penalty. Kawempe dominated the second half, with Dorcus Kisakye, later crowned Woman of the Match, making it 2–0 in the 75th minute, and Asia Nakibuuka sealing it two minutes later. Kawempe remain top with 25 points, while Asubo stay bottom with four.

Elsewhere, all the other three Saturday fixtures ended level.

At Makerere University, Lady Doves and the hosts drew 1–1. Resty Kobusobozi scored and earned Woman of the Match, before Halima Kampi equalised from the spot.

In Soroti, Olila HS WFC and She Maroons FC also shared points in a 1–1 draw. Atwani Brenda scored for Olila, while the in-form Lillian Kasuubo converted a penalty for the visitors.

In Wakiso, Rines SS WFC and Amus College played out yet another 1–1 draw, with goals from Prossy Akasa and Esther Namataka.
