Moureen Nankinga stepped up when it mattered most, scoring late to send She Corporate FC to the top of the FUFA Women Super League with a 1-0 win over Olila High School WFC in Soroti.
Coming off the bench, Nankinga broke Olila’s resistance in the 74th minute, finishing off a well-delivered cross from Komuntale to seal a hard-fought victory on Saturday.
It was not the easy win many expected. Despite Olila already being relegated, they stayed disciplined and made She Corporate work for every moment. The first half was quiet, with both sides struggling to create clear chances and going into the break goalless.
After halftime, She Corporate raised the tempo. Their pressure grew, and the introduction of Nankinga gave them the edge they needed. Her goal finally brought relief after a patient and determined display.
Komuntale nearly added a second late on, but her free-kick was pushed onto the woodwork by goalkeeper Akite. At the other end, Molly Naava made a key save to deny Olila and secure the clean sheet.
Nankinga has made a habit of decisive goals this season, including a previous winner away to St Noa. Her latest strike highlights She Corporate’s ability to grind out results, a quality that could prove crucial in the title race.
The win moves She Corporate to 47 points, two ahead of Kawempe Muslim Ladies, who play Makerere University on Sunday. It also completes a league double over Olila after their 3-2 win earlier in the season.
She Corporate will next host St Noa on April 26, while Olila visit Amus College.
Elsewhere, Uganda Martyrs beat Asubo Ladies 3-0, with goals from Sharon Nabowa, Sharon Kanyiginya, and Angel Kigongo Auki. On Sunday, Kampala Queens face Amus College, while Rines SS WFC take on Lady Doves.
