2025/26 FUFA Women Super League | MD 12 | Sunday February 22,
- Kampala Queens FC 2-2 Rines SS WFC
Reigning champions Kampala Queens left Lugogo with heavy steps. The 2-2 draw against Rines felt less like a point gained and more like two lost in a title race tightening by the week.
It was their opening match of the second round of the FUFA Women Super League, and instead of sending a message, the Queens raised questions.
Last season, they swept past opponents with confidence and control. This time, the rhythm looks uneven, the authority less certain. Head coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal has work to do if his side is to rediscover its edge.
For a while, it looked routine. In a tight first half, Peace Muduwa made the difference. Timing her run perfectly, she slotted home just before the break to give the champions the lead and a sense of control.

But Rines emerged for the second half with belief. Patricia Nakato Nanyanzi calmly converted from the penalty spot to level matters. Minutes later, Phiona Arach turned the game on its head, finishing a swift move that left the Queens stunned and suddenly chasing.
With ten minutes remaining, Zaitun Namaganda struck to rescue a point. There was relief, not joy. Avoiding defeat mattered, but it did not hide the concern.
Kampala Queens now sit third on 22 points, seven behind joint leaders She Corporate FC and Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC. In a season where consistency is everything, dropped points may prove costly.
Elsewhere, She Corporate showed no such hesitation. They beat Asubo Ladies 3-0 at the Kampala Quality Playground, with Jesca Namanda scoring twice and Sandra Kisakye adding the third to go top on goal difference.
