She Maroons clinched a crucial 2-0 victory over Lady Doves on matchday 13 of the FUFA Women Super League, at the Prisons Ground in Luzira, to get back to get winning ways.

Jackie Nassali and Jackline Adong were both on target as She Maroons secured their fifth win of the season and handed Lady Doves their sixth loss of the campaign.

The home side capitalized on the Believers’ early missed opportunities, with Nassali striking in the 36th minute to break the deadlock.

A dominant second half saw She Maroons double their lead through midfielder Adong, who netted her seventh goal of the campaign.

What the result means

She Maroons maintains third position after today’s victory and only five points behind Kampala Queens who are second on the table but with a game in hand.

Conversely, Lady Doves’ winless streak stretches to 47 days, dating back to their 5-1 triumph over Rines SS WFC in January, and are only one point above the red zone.

She Maroons coach Simon Peter Ochuka lauded his team’s tactical execution. “We had to bounce back after our midweek loss,” he said.

“The girls played according to the plans and managed to get a good result. I’m happy and now the focus will be on the next opponents.” he concluded.

In the next game, She Maroons will host Rines SS WFC on Wednesday 10th April 2024 and on the same day, Lady Doves will be welcoming table leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC in Masindi.
