The FUFA Women Super League returns this weekend with exciting second-leg fixtures, and all eyes are on clash between league leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC.
The game to be played at St Gerrald’s playground at 10AM in Lubaga will be a big test for the new Uganda Martyrs’ technical team that will be in charge for the first time this season.
Coach Edward Kasozi who won the FUFA Women Cup trophy in 2023 was unveiled as the new Uganda Martyrs coach and will be assisted by Shafick Mutebi, Andrew Ssetuba, Masembe Umar and former Kampala Queens Goal keeper coach Kawooya Sowedi.

Their immediate task will be a home game against unbeaten Kawempe as the Kiddawalimes look to start the second round by handing the Valley Warriors their first defeat.
Previous encounters
Uganda Martyrs are motivated by their past successes against Kawempe, having won four and drawn one of their last seven encounters.

However, Kawempe has dominated the recent encounters, securing convincing victories in their last two meetings, scoring at least 3 goals each time.
Despite a challenging first round, Uganda Martyrs’ new coach remains optimistic about their title aspirations. “We want to win the league,” declared Kasozi confidently.
“Even though we’re 7 points behind Kawempe, we’ve been here before, and we can do it again. We’ll fight hard and be as aggressive as possible to win.”
A win for Kawempe, will help them stay on top of the log while a victory for Uganda Martyrs, will take them to the third place should UCU, She Maroons and Lady Doves fail to win.
Defender Stella Namisango and striker Brenda Munyana who missed the first round, extended their contracts and are part of the Uganda Martyrs squad.
The visitors will rely on their in-form youngster Agnes Nabukenya who’s currently the league’s top scorer with six goals and has been on fire with the U17 Women National Team (Teen Cranes) in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Kawempe will continue to miss the services of Shakirah Nyinagahirwa who sustained a knee injury while Uganda Martyrs have all their players available for selection.
