Uganda’s national women’s basketball team, the Gazelles, are heading to Egypt for an intensive training camp as they gear up for the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket in Abidjan.

The team departs for Cairo on Friday, July 11, where they’ll play friendly matches against Egypt, Rwanda, and Cameroon from July 12–15 at the Mostapha Sports Halls. These games will provide a valuable test before the continental showdown.

After the friendlies, the Gazelles will continue their preparations in Alexandria from July 15–24, focusing on tactics, teamwork, and mental sharpness, key ingredients the coaching staff hopes will fuel a deep run at the tournament.

The team is expected to arrive in Abidjan on July 24, just two days before the Afrobasket tips off on July 26.

Fans will have one final chance to support the team before they depart, during an open practice at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Thursday, July 10, at 9:00 AM.

The session is open to the public and offers a chance to cheer on the players as they take their final steps toward continental competition.
