Gerald Ssendaula spoke calmly but firmly, seeking to steady SC Villa amid renewed public debate.
The trustee chairperson aimed to separate fact from rumor and reassure Jogoos fans that the club’s future is secure.

“We are here to clarify recent media reports about SC Villa,” Ssendaula said.
“Members should channel concerns through proper structures, not the media.”
He addressed journalists on Tuesday at City Oil, Kamwokya, alongside trustees Patrick “Guy” Kawuma, Franco Mugabe, Moses Matovu, and club lawyer Isaac Walukagga of MMAKS Advocates.

The briefing followed weeks of scrutiny, with fans questioning the legality of the current management and demanding transparency over club finances.
As Uganda’s most successful football club with 17 league titles and nine Uganda Cups, Villa’s internal issues rarely stay private.

At the heart of Ssendaula’s address was the long-discussed compensation from the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).
The 82 year old former FUFA president and ex-finance minister revealed how the funds have been handled.
“We received Shs3 billion and Shs20 million from UNRA,” he said.
“The money was invested as a fixed deposit and has grown to Shs4.5 billion.”
The funds are earmarked for a long-held dream, Villa’s own stadium.
“Our plan is to buy land, possibly along Entebbe Road, for a stadium,” Ssendaula said. “The process is pending due to the busy electoral period.”
He also addressed the leadership vacuum, with the current executive’s term ending in November 2025, a source of debate among fans.
“We are aware the executive’s term ended in November,” he said.
“With the league ongoing and the country entering a politically busy period, we requested a three-month grace period.”
A special committee will organise elections within that window, expected in about three months.
On the field, Villa are performing well. Under Serbian coach Jovan Želiko Kovačević, they have 20 points from 10 matches, sitting fourth on the 16 team log.
Ssendaula emphasized stability, financial, administrative, and sporting as the ultimate goal.
“We are custodians of this club, and everything we do is to protect its future,” he said.
For a club that has shaped Ugandan football history, fans hope the calm promised in Kamwokya translates into lasting action.
