Uganda made history at the inaugural Commonwealth Billiards Games, with Chandiga Ceasar winning gold in the Heyball category, the country’s first-ever top finish at the event.
In a thrilling final, Ceasar, Africa’s Heyball ambassador and former national champion, defeated India’s Shivam Arora 9–7.
Calm and clinical throughout the tournament, Ceasar’s tactical brilliance shone brightest when it mattered most.
Uganda’s success didn’t end there, top-seeded Kasozi Joseph claimed silver in the Blackball category after a tough final against South Africa’s world champion, Senzo Gumede.
Kasozi showed determination, clawing back after trailing 5–0, but ultimately fell 7–3. His silver marked Uganda’s first medal of the Games.
Meanwhile, Kisakye Marion and Naiga Rukia added two bronzes to Uganda’s tally with strong runs to the semifinals in their respective categories, showcasing skill and composure throughout.
